Creating Accessible PDFs

Formatting accessible Word documents do not guarantee an accessible PDF. The only way to confirm a PDF file is fully accessible is to use Acrobat Professional and a screen reader.

This video, Word 2013 & 2016: Converting to PDF, provided by the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, demonstrates best practices. If you have a PDF document that is not searchable, use Adobe Acrobat Professional to edit it following these instructions: Making A PDF Accessible with Acrobat Pro DC.

Note: If you are working with a student who needs accommodations that include accessible text documents, please contact the Student Access Center.
